To complement an impressive opening weekend for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW), Hair Director Kevin Murphy and his team of SESSION.STYLISTS created a structured, elegant hair look, inspired by Japanese samurai, to accompany the ethereal designs in the Opening Gala show.
PRIME with STAYING.ALIVE
PREP with BODY.BUILDER
FINISH with SESSION.SPRAY
PRIME and PREP the hair with STAYING.ALIVE and BODY.BUILDER and directionally blow-dry to set the direction of the hair back away from the face making it ready for a ponytail.
Section the hair into 4 Sections: create a V Shape from recession to recession to the crown, then a V shape section from the back of each ear on both sides, and the back section.
Using SESSION.SPRAY place the back section into a high pony below the crown and tie off with a long piece of hat elastic. Add both sides one by one, smoothing as you go and tie off for a flawless finish.
Once all the hair is gathered tie on a contrasting hair weft to the ponytail.
Hold the ponytail at a 45-degree angle and apply a liberal amount of SESSION.SPRAY. Slowly flat iron out to ribbon the hair and achieve shine and smoothness. Loop the hair around 3 fingers and tie onto the existing ponytail base with the hat elastic allowing the long ends to move to the lower right while the loop stays towards the left.
FINISH by refining with SESSION.SPRAY and remove any imperfections to achieve a shellacked appearance. Finally, cut the ends of the hair weft off flat and square.
