<p><span face="Arial,sans-serif" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">The average Lucy Pop customer is a young, successful, creative professional that is confident with his or her image and likes to evolve their look.  They are looking for a fresh, hip, wearable hair cut and hair color, and want different styling options to be able to transition their image to fit all aspects of their social and professional life.  </span></p>
<h3><span face="Arial,sans-serif" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"></span>What is your philosophy toward retailing products?</h3>
<p><span face="Arial,sans-serif" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"> We truly believe Kevin.Murphy products are the BEST available, and so our philosophy toward retailing is simply based from an educational standpoint.  We just love sharing and talking about our Kevin.Murphy obsession with all of our clients.  Fortunately, all the Kevin.Murphy products are obsession worthy, so as soon as the clients experience the products during their visit and hear our genuine enthusiasm then they have to have it all at home.  </span></p>
<h3><span face="Arial,sans-serif" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"></span>What is the salons industry&#8217;s biggest challenge?</h3>
<p>The salon industry&#8217;s biggest challenge today is being able to cut through all the bulls$%&amp; that is being fed to our clients via the media and internet, and re-establish ourselves as the authority on what actually works best for our clients.  The proficiency and competency of our craft is being undermined with celebrity colorists selling at home hair color, and hairstylists doing 20/20 interviews about horribly unprofessional salon practices.  Hairstylists and colorists today need to focus on perfecting their craft, really knowing their stuff, and always growing, learning and striving for perfection with their work to be able to advance their careers and our profession.</p>
<h3>What is the best business advice you would give to other salon owners?</h3>
<p><span face="Arial,sans-serif" style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">The best business advice I could give to other salon owners is pretty simple &#8211;  always trust your instincts and stay authentic to your concept and brand.   I like to call it &#8220;keeping it real&#8221;.   Just keep it real and you can&#8217;t go wrong.</span></p>

<p><strong>1. When did you start TOME?</strong></p>
<p>We began in 2011, so we are now well into our 3rd year of business!</p>
<p><b>2. What made you decide to create the line?</b></p>
<p>Ramon Martin (my business partner) and I met at Fashion college 15 years ago. Ever since we can remember we knew that when the time was right to launch a brand, it would be together.</p>
<p><b>3. What is the meaning of TOME, what does the name mean?</b></p>
<p>TOME is a literary term referring to a volume of work. After a collective 30 years in the fashion industry (Ramon at Jean Paul Gaultier, Alberta Ferretti, Derek Lam; Ryan at Robby Ingham, Belinda and The Corner Shop, pagesonline), this is our first volume in business together.</p>
<p><b>4. What was the inspiration for the video?</b></p>
<p>Georgia O&#8217;Keeffe was the inspiration for the F13 collection and thus for the video. Myf Shepherd designed the prints featured on the shirts. We love the parallel of these two young models turned artist.</p>

<p>Whimsy Salon &amp; Garden is an upscale, custom built salon &amp; boutique located in South Redondo Beach, CA.  Known for its rustic, at-home feel and personal touches by owners Mark &amp; Keli Murphy, Whimsy Salon &amp; Garden offers a unique salon experience in a beautiful, down-to-earth and relaxing environment.  Clients can browse the boutique, escape to the outdoor garden and enjoy the long lost art of service.  The total experience is a priority and that has clients walking away feeling as good as they look!  Whimsy Salon also hosts in-house education, fundraisers and special events.</p>

<p>We are a beach community and that provides a great mix of clients.  I’d like to say we have a little bit of everything!!!  Whimsy customers are loyal.  The majority of them have found us by referrals/word of mouth.</p>
<h3> WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY TOWARD RETAILING PRODUCTS?</h3>
<p>I think of retail as prescribing products to our clients instead of selling!  They look to us, the experts, to tell them what they need!  It’s our job to talk about the products and educate on how to use them.  Our passion and belief in the line transfers over to our clients and ultimately is what sells it!</p>
<h3> WHAT IS THE SALONS INDUSTRY’S BIGGEST CHALLENGE?</h3>
<p>Diversion and the information age.</p>
<p>I love Kevin Murphy in that he stands behind being exclusive and has a team that is on top of it!  We are a rapid growing industry with so much access, I find comfort in being a part of this line…knowing I am up to date with current styles, trends and products.  Just when our clients think they are the expert from what they can see and get online, with KM I feel I am always a step ahead!</p>
